Noob detected!
So I've been on deviantart for 5 years. (My first user: ~Grynte Yes, I was super emo back then. (...) -_-' )
But... I've never really been social here, I didn't notice the forum and thumbshare until recently..
Please help me here, I have a few questions.
- what's ...with the llamas?
- The "points"?
- "Donations" ? What exactly do you donate to?
- And what can you do in groups beside uploading your pictures and hope they'll get approved?
Well, now I coded a journal skin, hopefully this will make me look like less of a noob.
In other news, my boyfriend got me a wacom tablet intius 4 for christmas! THE BEST CHRISTMAS PRESENT EVER!
I just started digital painting recently, and I have only tried it two times before, but even I can see that it's MUCH MUCH easier with a tablet!
More fun too, not to mention.
So, yesterday I started adjusting the settings on my new, beloved (yes, beloved. I would marry it if I could.), tablet and I must admit, adjusting the settings on this thing, made it a hell of a lot easier to use, than when I was trying to just use it as a mouse on my computer when I installed the software.
Anyways, my first painting is a painting of my cat. Made in photoshop cs5.

She currently lives at my mom's place, and drawing this made me miss her so much
Look how cute she is:
So, one thing I really like is when people feature other people's artwork in their journals, sooo! I'm gonna do that as well.
Here's a few digital paintings that made my jaw drop as if I was blowing the hulk.

- Can't understant it too.
The "points"?
- The points are DA money
- You can buy them or you can ask for them
"Donations" ? What exactly do you donate to?
- If you like someones enough or it's work or whatever you can give them points
- That person can use them to buy stuff from the deviant store, can do an art contest and give the points as prizes...
- You dont need a motive to give points.
And what can you do in groups beside uploading your pictures and hope they'll get approved?
- I just prey they get accepted
AAAH so you are donating points. And you can buy stuff with them. I get it now!
I can't imagine anything you've made wouldn't get accepted everywhere (:
Thanks for the help (and the fav
My Ballerina was denied from several groups
No reason given why
Here's a contest where you can earn a lot of points [link]
The deadline is February 14th
I'M SO GONNA JOIN! My first contest! Wuuuu!
I can't remember the one who denied it, but it was a few. some it's ok, they gave me the reaons and i agree. But two of them(#getdailydeviations and other) gave me no reason at all, even after i asked
I just checked, I have 0 points xD shouldn't you get points from buying premium? I never did apparently
I never really understood daily deviations. :l How do you get that? Do the staff just pick it? I feel like such a noob O_O
I think it's kinda rude of them not to answer :s
You can buy the points to give to another person, or to give in a contest as prizes...
Because you can't simply send real money to people in DA, unless you know their bank account ou paypal... this way, you buy the points and you can give them away to people you want or even buy art from people that does tah.
For example, i do portraits for money(real money), but i can make it for the same price, but in points. Points that i can only use in DA, buy stuff from the DA store or give as prizes in contest or whatever i want.
You get a daily deviation if someone suggest one of your work to the people in charge of giving them. Usually it has to be an exceptional work to get the daily deviation, but i've been seing lately some daily deviations that aren't that special... -.- i also want one! xD
Must work harder!
You just need to spend sometime runing around DA, and you'll learn it all
Yeah getting a daily deviation is one of my teenage dreams haha. I've seen some that I dont think is.. that worthy too. But it makes me keep my hope higher, haha
Anyhow, I've only been here for a year, I also don't get the whole Llama/points/donations thing, I guess you are into it, or you aren't.
Groups are... well I think the benefit is finding others that have similar interests to yourself, new people to follow, or get inspiration from. Though granted you do tend to end up with a lot of art to go through to find gems. Mixed blessings.
Congrats on Joining the ranks of the Wacom enabled, your first painting is very promising
Also the cat is cute, which helps
oh... and your closing sentence is epic! hehehe
